Silagra is a medication used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It contains the active ingredient sildenafil citrate, which is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. Sildenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, helping men achieve and maintain an erection. Sildenafil citrate inhibits the action of PDE5, an enzyme that breaks down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscle cells of the penis. Increased levels of cGMP lead to smooth muscle relaxation, improved blood flow, and the facilitation of an erection.
