I’m the CTO of a small edtech project, and this week I have my first serious conversation about payment security with our legal counsel. He’s asking how we handle sensitive cardholder data, whether we store it on our servers, and what happens when a suspicious transaction pops up. I understand the general high-level concepts around encryption, but I want to hear from folks who have actually worked with payment orchestration: how are tokenization and anti-fraud checks implemented under the hood, and what does the platform take care of versus what remains on my end?

And how does this impact legitimate users? I’m worried that aggressive anti-fraud rules might start blocking normal customers, costing us revenue due to over-zealous filtering. How did you strike the right balance in production?

I was responsible for security in our integration, so I can speak directly from experience. Tokenization and data encryption are covered in detail within their white-label documentation, which highlights secure transaction processing and real-time activity monitoring. On the online payment orchestration platform, fraud prevention is listed alongside currency conversion and advanced analytics as modular add-on services—meaning you enable them as your risk profile requires. In our setup, we never held raw cardholder data on our servers, which gave our legal team complete peace of mind. As for striking that balance with legitimate buyers: the exact risk thresholds and scoring rules are something I refined directly with their technical consultant, as specific rule builders aren’t detailed on the main page. I’d recommend having that same conversation with them. What kind of monthly transaction volume are you currently processing?
