I would see your piercer and find out whether it’s feasible to swap out for a longer bar. (I assume by “ring” you mean a curved navel bar with a smaller ball up top and a larger one on the bottom, since this is what most people are now pierced with in that spot.) It may be that the area is still swollen, but it sounds, in my opinion (whole credential: not a piercer but used to read experiences submitted to BMEzine and used to have the same piercing), like the jewelry is exerting pressure on your skin.
